Work History: Todd’s career at MARR began in 1998 in the Marketing and Fundraising Department. From a distance, Todd was able to witness miraculous transformations taking place in clients’ lives, and those experiences inspired Todd to return to graduate school for his degree in Social Work. Since that time, he’s held the role of Residential Manager, Primary Counselor, and most recently as the Director of MARR’s Professionals Program. Todd also has experience with young adults from his time working at Ridgeview Institute, and adolescents from his time at Inner Harbor Hospital.
“The MARR magic comes from a dedicated authentic staff creating a structure where the clients can feel safe enough to slowly but surely reveal their pain, anger, hurt and loss with one another. The gift of long-term residential treatment makes it almost impossible for our clients to stay in hiding. While the staff are able to offer excellent education on the disease of addiction, recovery, relapse prevention, trauma and family dynamics – all of these things are taken and put into practice over in their therapeutic communities. The real psychic change occurs through the relationships the clients build with one another at night and on the weekends when no staff are around, and they practice establishing boundaries, assertively expressing their needs and wants, and risk vulnerability and intimacy with their peers as they break through their denial and learn to share their fear, sadness, shame, anger and loss with one another.”
