Job Title: Clinical Director
Credentials: MA, LPC, CPCS
Education Background: Marcia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgia State University in 2002. She earned a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Argosy University in 2007.
Work History: In February 2008, Marcia began working as a Job Coach at MARR’s Right Side Up Program. In that role, she helped clients with things like interview skills and building a resume, while simultaneously working to build community relationships with local businesses where clients could obtain and maintain employment. Marcia then became an Intake Coordinator for RSU, where she completed assessments and admissions for clients, while also doing outreach to various GA DFCS offices, family treatment courts, and other community agencies to build partnerships and increase program referrals. Marcia transitioned into the role of Primary Counselor at Right Side Up Dekalb in 2011. She was promoted to Right Side Up Program Director in 2013. After 10 years of leading RSU, Marcia moved into her current role as MARR’s Clinical Director in November 2023. Prior to her career at MARR, Marcia worked for Clayton County School District as a paraprofessional in the special education department, helping children diagnosed with Austism Spectrum Disorder and other learning disabilities. She left her role as a paraprofessional when she began her graduate program internship at CAFE 458 in 2006.
“I truly believe God led me to the addiction treatment field. My initial plan in becoming a counselor was to work with school-aged children and their families, but my graduate program internship led me to working with homeless men and women dealing with addiction and mental health issues. I grew up with a father who struggled with addiction and PTSD, and the internship provided me with so much insight. Since working at MARR, I’ve been able to grow and increase my knowledge about addiction, mental health and trauma. I love having the opportunity to aid individuals in restoring themselves. The work we do is heartfelt and nurturing to others, and it also provides me with purpose. I believe in MARR’s mission of treating the whole person. We strive to help our clients mentally, physically, and spiritually, and bring a life of recovery to both the clients and their family members who are affected by this disease. In my new role, I look forward to being a part of the team that is helping move MARR forward and grow, while holding onto our history and maintaining our core values.”
